Michael Osborne
Originally from Trenton, New Jersey, Michael Osborne, received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University. He earned his graduate degree in library science from the Catholic University in 1986. Although he was not on the Friends Board at that time he occasionally participated as a staff member of the Department of Education’s Division of Library Development Services (DLDS). Beginning in 1997 he worked as a technology specialist with DLDS and worked extensively with LBPH on different issues, especially in 2002 when he served as acting State Librarian. The Citizens for Maryland Libraries presented him the 2004 Davis McCarn technology award.
Firmly supporting the Friend’s initiatives to help LBPH achieve its goals and mission, his interests reside in fundraising and technology. For example, Michael served on a fund raising committee for the 2008 “Sound and Scenes,” working at whatever needed to make it a success. Michael is a rare book dealer with a broad background in the history of the book and the antiquarian book trade.
