The Library

The Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, (LBPH) is part of a national network of libraries in each state.

The library offers services to persons who are legally blind, have limited vision, physical limitations or are reading disabled.

The library holdings consist of a collection of specialized books that includes

  • fiction
  • non-fiction
  • best sellers
  • children's books
  • history
  • biographies
  • religious literature
  • magazines

These materials may be found in several formats: large print, audio cassette Braille. Descriptive video movies are also available.

The library seeks to provide innovative and quality services to meet the needs and expectations of patrons. One example is the Kids Corner, an interactive space for children which opened in May 2009.
